Motorcycle Crash Kills One

A Ulysses man is dead after a crash in Potter County. State Police report
that 20 year old Ryan Vincent Snay was driving at the intersection of Cowley
Hill Road and Bush Hill Road when he lost control around a curve, and struck
a Jeep Cherokee head on. Snay was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cherokee was driven by 43 year old John Erskine of Emporium. Two girls,
ages five and six in Erskine’s car reported minor injuries.

No charges have been filed.

Take Those Snow Tires Off

State Police warn motorists that April 16 is the deadline to remove snow
tires. Studded tires are allowed from November 1st to April 15th each year.
Fines for the offense vary, depending on the date of the violation.

Emporium Woman Charged with Retail Theft
An Emporium woman has been accused of shoplifting. Police have charged 21 year old Tracy Michelle Charlton with retail theft after allegedly putting an item in her pocket off the shelf at a Sheetz store, and leaving without paying for it Thursday.

Emporium Man Charged with DUI
An Emporium man was charged with DUI by State police in McKean County. Officers say 24 year old Shane Goss was pulled over along Route 59 in Keating Township.

New Police Chief Coming Soon
Emporium is getting ready to hire a new Police Chief. Borough Council excused the public as they met in executive session last week to discuss the hiring.

Former Chief Al Neyman will be serving as Cameron County Sherriff.

Emporium Borough Council President James Slusarick says 10 applicants were considered. Now four are left, and they’ve each been interviewed. A decision is expected to come soon.

Troopers Get Aggressive
State Police in Tioga, Potter, and Emporium are stepping up their enforcement for the Easter Holiday.

Officers say they will be aggressively enforcing traffic laws to prevent crashes, DUI, speeding, seat belt violations, and child safety seat problems.
