By Jason Cato TRIBUNE-REVIEW Wednesday, July 19, 2006 A Ross man was sentenced to 121 months in federal prison today in a child pornography case in which he was accused of having sex with a 2-year-old girl. Roderick Long, 41, pleaded guilty in March to one count of receiving child pornography. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gustave Diamond, who recommended Long be sent to a prison with a sex offender treatment program.
The Department of Environmental Protection reports that a a neutralization system along the Sinnemahoning and Portage Creek has got the water's pH levels back to normal. Nortfolk Southern has been using a citric acid solution at the site of a train derailment and sodium hydroxide spill to reduce the alkalinity. As of late last week, the railroad removed 1150 tons of spilled cargo from the spill site.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission says it will begin accepting applications for regular antlerless deer license applications from resident hunters beginning Aug. 7, and non-residents on Aug. 21.
US Congressman John Peterson says he's dissapointed that a vote in the House fell short of the two thirds needed. The vote was to create a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. Peterson says he believes marriage is between a man and a woman, and he's sorry that there weren't enough votes to keep the process moving.
