During the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission executive committee meeting and full board meeting, the fate of the Industrial Technical Educational Center was discussed. In a late afternoon executive board meeting, the board accepted the recommendation to use funds from the Workforce Investment Board to keep the school running until the end of August 2007.

19 year old Michael Osti of Emporium crashed on Route 120 recently. Police say he lost control and struck a bank. He sustained minor injuries.

State Police in Emporium report that 54 year old Wayne Miller was not injured in a crash on Route 120 recently

Miller lost control just west of Johnson Run in Gibson Township, went off the road, and struck a bank.

No charges were filed.

An SUV Crash earlier this month left one person injured on Route 120.

State Police in Emporium report that 76 year old Charles W. Simmons of Sterloing Run Road in Driftwood was traveling west on Route 120, just east of Stillhouse Run in Lumber Township when he hit the north bank, and came to rest in the Westbound lane. Simmons was wearing his seatbelt. Police did not indicate the severity of his injuries.

Members of the Cameron County Area Board of Education are taking their time in hiring what most people see as the most critical position at any school district- superintendent. Board members have discussed the issue in private session and, most recently, voted publicly to extend the term of Clyde Moate as interim superintendent while the search continues.

Two Emporium men have been fined by the Game Commission for poaching an elk. Douglas Petty, 19, was charged with unlawful taking or possession of game or wildlife. Eric Reed, 20, was accused of aiding in the unlawful taking of game or wildlife. Petty was fined $1500 and was ordered to pay $5,000 restitution. Reed was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and make $1,000 restitution. Both defendants were also ordered to pay court costs and fees. The Game Commission said the pair killed a elk last November, decapitated it and left it to rot in a field near the Game Commission’s office in Shippen township, Cameron County.Another Emporium resident has been charged with simple assault. Jamie Reynolds, 19, is accused of hitting 20 year old Alicia Reickerd Saturday morning during an argument. He was arraigned before District Judge King and committed to the Elk County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
