WESB reports:
What started as a class research project for students and instructors at Bradford Regional Medical Center's School of Radiography has resulted in less radiation exposure for patients undergoing several types of tests in the Department of Imaging Services Known as "The C-A-S-L Study: Dose Reduction in a Computed Radiography Environment," the students performed examinations on 80 patients over a six-month period, using lower doses of radiation during several exams. Those included cervical spine, abdominal, shoulder and lumbar spine exams. Following the conclusion of the study, the research findings were submitted to Radiologic Technology magazine, a monthly publication of The Journal of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, distributed to 120,000 readers worldwide. The article was published in the November/December 2006 issue.
